Waterloo Regional Police are continuing to investigate a threat of violence towards a Kitchener business.

On March 19, 2025, police responded to the Centre In The Square for a report of concerning threats that had been received online.

The threats made reference to potential violence as a result of an event taking place on March 27, 2025, in relation to the showing of “Shen Yun”. The threat was investigated and deemed to not be credible.

There have been dozens of similar threats throughout North America regarding the performance but all proceeded without incident.

WRPS’ General Investigations Unit is continuing to investigate to determine the origin of the threat.
