Police Investigating Multiple Thefts from Vehicles in Preston Area of Cambridge
Waterloo Regional Police are continuing to investigate multiple thefts from motor vehicles in Cambridge.
Between February 7 and 18, 2025, police received 20 reports of thefts from unlocked vehicles in the Preston area. The thefts occurred during the overnight and early morning hours.
In one incident, on February 10, 2025, at around 6 a.m., a garage door opener stolen from a vehicle on Pheasant Avenue was used to open the garage door of a residence. Property, including power tools and a leaf blower, was stolen.
Other items targeted in these incidents included cash, wallets, electronics, identity documents, and fragrances.
On February 18, 2025, officers arrested a 30-year-old male in connection to three thefts from motor vehicle incidents – one on Bishop Street South and two on Clare Avenue. Stolen property, including a laptop, cell phones, and bank cards, were recovered.
The male was charged with possession of stolen goods under $5,000 and possession of an identity document and held in police custody for a bail hearing.
The investigation into the other 17 incidents remains ongoing.
Police encourage vehicle owners to park in a secure location where possible, lock vehicle doors, and ensure that valuables are not left in plain sight.
