Waterloo Regional Police are investigating a fake emergency call in Kitchener.

On March 6, 2026, at approximately 2:45 a.m., police received a report of a shooting at a residence in the area of Westmount Road West and Chopin Drive. 

Officers responded and cleared the residence. Through investigation, it was determined that the reported incident had not occurred.

The call is being treated as a swatting incident – a false report made to trigger an emergency police response.

This is believed to have been a targeted incident. The investigation remains ongoing by WRPS’ General Investigations Unit.
