Members of the Waterloo Regional Police Service’s Break, Enter, Auto Theft and Robbery (BEAR) Unit have arrested two individuals in connection with a break and enter at a government building in Kitchener.

On July 5, 2026, a break and enter occurred at a government building in the area of Ardelt Avenue and Hanson Avenue. During the incident, two suspects entered the building and stole various items, including records containing sensitive information.

The BEAR Unit assumed carriage of the investigation after the incident was discovered on July 6, 2026.

As a result of the investigation, a 48-year-old Kitchener male was arrested on July 9, 2026. A second suspect, a 46-year-old Kitchener male, was arrested on July 13, 2026.

Investigators recovered numerous stolen items, including the sensitive information that had been taken during the break and enter.

The investigation remains ongoing.
