Waterloo Regional Police are Investigating Copper and Aluminum Thefts in Kitchener
The Waterloo Regional Police are investigating two significant theft incidents involving copper and aluminum from HVAC units in Kitchener.
On November 18, 2025, in the early morning hours, unknown suspect(s) attended an institution on Connaught Street and dismantled six rooftop air conditioning units to strip them of copper. This resulted in a high value in damages. The investigation is ongoing by WRPS’ Neighbourhood Policing Central Division and the Forensic Identification Unit.
As well on November 24, 2025, in the early morning hours, copper and aluminum were stolen from HVAC units at a commercial building in the area of Riverbend Drive and Lancaster Street West. The theft resulted in a high value of damages.
