Waterloo Regional Police have arrested a male after responding to a report of a suspicious person entering parked vehicles in a Cambridge neighbourhood.

On August 8, 2026, at approximately 2:45 a.m., police responded to reports of a male checking vehicle door handles and entering vehicles in the area of Masterson Crescent.

Officers attended the area and located the suspect inside a parked vehicle. The male was arrested without incident.

Through the investigation, officers determined that two vehicles had been entered and property had been stolen. The stolen items were recovered and returned to their owners.

As a result of the investigation, a 32-year-old Cambridge male has been charged with:

• Theft from motor vehicle (two counts)

The accused was also arrested on an outstanding Waterloo Regional Police warrant and faces additional charges, including:

• Possession of property obtained by crime
• Unauthorized use of credit card data
• Failure to comply with probation

The accused was held in police custody for a bail hearing.

As part of the ongoing Lock It or Lose It campaign, police are reminding residents to:

• Lock vehicle doors, even when parked in driveways.
• Remove valuables from vehicles or keep them out of sight.
• Never leave wallets, purses, keys, identification, credit cards, or electronics unattended inside vehicles.
• Report suspicious activity immediately.
