On January 1, 2025, at approximately 8p.m., a suspect entered a business in the area of University Avenue West and Phillip Street in Waterloo.

The suspect selected several items but was stopped by store staff before leaving. A physical altercation occurred, during which a staff member was pushed to the ground. The suspect then fled on foot with some merchandise.

Police responded to the incident and located and arrested the accused. No physical injuries were reported as a result of the altercation. 

A 25-year-old male was charged and held for a show cause hearing.
