Waterloo Regional Police Charge Male in Child Exploitation Investigation

In September 2025, the Waterloo Regional Police Service’s Cybercrime – Internet Child Exploitation Unit began an investigation into the possession of child sexual abuse and exploitation material (formerly Child Pornography) after receiving information regarding a Kitchener resident from the National Child Exploitation Coordination Centre (NCECC).

As a result of the investigation, on April 23, 2026, police arrested a 29-year-old Cambridge male for one count of possession of child sexual abuse and exploitation material and two counts of make available child sexual abuse and exploitation material.

The accused was held in police custody for a bail hearing. The investigation is ongoing.

The Waterloo Regional Police Service is a member of the Ontario Provincial Strategy to Protect Children from Sexual Abuse and Exploitation on the Internet. This project has been made possible by a grant from the Ministry of the Solicitor General.
