Waterloo Regional Police Continue to Investigate Load Thefts

Members of the Waterloo Regional Police Service’s Break, Enter and Vehicle Theft Team are investigating three stolen tractor trailers that occurred on December 29th, 2025. 

At approximately 1:30 a.m., three Freightliner transport trucks were stolen from a business in North Dumfries Township.

Later that day, at 4:30 p.m., a tractor trailer equipped with cargo was stolen from a business in Cambridge. The tractor trailer was located by the police. As a result, high value of stolen cargo was recovered in another jurisdiction. 

WRPS’ Break, Enter, and Vehicle Theft Team is asking residents to consider the following tips to help reduce the risk of cargo thefts and valuable assets:

  • Ensure warehouses, transport routes, and parking areas are secured with appropriate fencing, adequate lighting and controlled access points.
  • Utilize GPS tracking systems from for cargo, supported by proper lighting and surveillance measures.
  • Ensure all vehicle doors are always locked and that keys are never left inside unattended vehicles.
