Waterloo Regional Police are investigating a fatal collision involving a pedestrian and a light rail train in Waterloo.

On August 29, 2026, at approximately 11:20 p.m., emergency services responded to the area of Dutton Drive following reports of a collision involving an ION train and a pedestrian.

Upon arrival, officers located an adult female. Life-saving measures were attempted; however, the female was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The investigation was handled by WRPS’ General Investigations Unit. As a result of the investigation, no charges have been laid.
