Waterloo Regional Police Investigating Hate-Motivated Incident in Kitchener
UPDATED MEDIA RELEASE:
Waterloo Regional Police have arrested a male in connection to a hate-motivated incident in Kitchener.
On June 6, 2026, at approximately 10:15 p.m., two individuals were in the area of Bankside Drive and Benesfort Drive when they were approached by an unknown male. The male became aggressive, yelled racial comments at the victims, and engaged in a physical altercation.
As a result of the investigation, on June 9, 2026, a 52-year-old Kitchener male was arrested and charged with:
- Assault (two counts)
- Mischief under $5,000
- Mischief- interfere with lawful use or enjoyment
- Dangerous operation of a vehicle
