Waterloo Regional Police are investigating two reports of fake emergency calls in Kitchener.

On February 13, 2026, at approximately 3:55 p.m., police received a report of a shooting at a residence in the area of Westmount Road West and Chopin Drive. Shortly after, a second call was made reporting a similar incident at another nearby residence.

Officers responded to both locations and cleared the residences. Through investigation, it was determined that the reported incidents had not occurred.

Both calls are believed to be related and are being treated as swatting incidents – false reports made to trigger an emergency police response.

The investigation is ongoing by WRPS’ General Investigations Unit.
