Waterloo Regional Police Investigating Vehicle Thefts in Baden
Members of the Waterloo Regional Police Service’s Rural Patrol are investigating after multiple vehicles were targeted in Baden.
On December 7, 2025, at approximately 7:30 a.m., police received two reports of stolen vehicles in the areas of Ernhardt Wagner Place and Wagner Avenue. The vehicles targeted were Lexus SUVs parked in residential driveways. One vehicle was stolen, and another was abandoned after an attempted theft.
The stolen vehicle was recovered a few hours later outside the region with the assistance of an anti-theft vehicle tracking system.
Police have obtained video footage showing two suspects in a dark-coloured SUV, believed to be a Dodge Durango, canvassing multiple vehicles throughout the residential area at approximately 3:30 a.m.

The Waterloo Regional Police Service encourages residents to consider the following measures to help prevent vehicle thefts:
- Block access to the onboard diagnostic port to prevent thieves from reprogramming the vehicle’s key fob.
- Use a steering wheel locking device to deter theft.
- When not in use, place the vehicle key fob inside a radio frequency shielding bag or pouch to block signals.
- Consider equipping your vehicle with an aftermarket global positioning system (GPS) tracker to assist police in locating the vehicle and suspects.
- Ensure all keys are accounted for and never left in the vehicle or unattended.
