Waterloo Regional Police Lay Charges Following a Collision in Cambridge
On May 15, 2026, at approximately 1:25 a.m., officers responded to a motor vehicle collision on Beverly Street and Kerr Street in Cambridge.
The investigation determined that a vehicle had lost control and struck a hydro pole, causing it to collapse and exposing live wires on the roadway.
The driver and a passenger fled the scene prior to police arrival. Officers secured the area for public safety and conducted a search. Both individuals were located a short distance away.
As a result of the investigation, the driver, a 24-year-old female from Brant County, was arrested and charged with Impaired Operation and Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle. There were no reports of any physical injuries.
Traffic in the area was disrupted for several hours while crews addressed the damage.
