Waterloo Regional Police Lay Charges Following Disturbance on Grand River Transit Bus

Waterloo Regional Police have laid multiple charges following a disturbance aboard a Grand River Transit bus in Kitchener.

On July 18, 2026, at approximately 11:45 a.m., an adult male boarded a Grand River Transit bus and became involved in a verbal confrontation with the bus operator.

During the incident, the male made threatening remarks toward the bus operator and directed offensive and discriminatory comments toward other passengers. 

The male's behaviour escalated throughout the trip, causing a disturbance and disrupting transit service.

As a result of the investigation, a 33-year-old Kitchener male has been charged with:

  • Uttering Threats to Cause Bodily Harm
  • Uttering Threats to Damage Property
  • Causing a Disturbance
  • Being Intoxicated in a Public Place
  • Mischief Interfering with Property
  • Obstructing a Peace Officer

The accused was held in custody for a bail hearing.
