Waterloo Regional Police are providing an update regarding an e-scooter incident in Kitchener.

On October 14, 2026, at approximately 8 p.m., emergency services responded to reports of an injured e-scooter rider on Home Watson Boulevard near Pioneer Drive.

The rider, a 60-year-old Kitchener male, was transported to an out-of-region hospital with serious injuries.

The investigation determined the male made contact with a pedestrian while operating an e-scooter. The male subsequently fell from the e-scooter and sustained serious injuries.

On October 18, 2026, the male died as a result of those injuries.

The pedestrian was not physically injured.
