Waterloo Regional Police Seek Assistance Identifying Suspect Following Vehicle Theft in Elmira

Waterloo Regional Police are investigating a vehicle theft in Elmira and are seeking the public's assistance to identify a suspect.

On September 5, 2026, at approximately 9:20 p.m., a witness observed a male steal an unoccupied vehicle from a gas station in Elmira.

Investigators are looking to identify and speak with the individual pictured below who may have information regarding this incident.

The Waterloo Regional Police Service encourages residents to consider the following vehicle theft prevention measures:

  • Block access to the onboard diagnostic port to help prevent thieves from reprogramming key fobs.
  • Use a steering wheel locking device.
  • Store key fobs in a radio-frequency shielding pouch when not in use.
  • Install an aftermarket GPS tracking device to assist with vehicle recovery.
  • Ensure all keys are accounted for and never leave keys inside a vehicle.
  • Report suspicious persons or behaviour to police immediately.
