WRPS Charge Male after Threatening and Misleading Calls to 9-1-1
Waterloo Regional Police have charged a male after threatening and misleading calls were made to 9-1-1.
On November 20, 2024, between 7 p.m. and 8:40 p.m., the Waterloo Regional Police Communications Centre received eight 9-1-1 calls from a male who was not reporting an emergency.
The male used profane language while threatening to physically harm the communicators.
Officers responded to the male’s house and arrested him.
As a result of the investigation, a 49-year-old Kitchener male was charged with:
- Public Mischief
- Uttering Threats to Cause Death or Bodily Harm
The Waterloo Regional Police would like to remind members of the public to only call 9-1-1 if there is an immediate risk to the safety of people or property.
This service quickly links callers to Police, Fire and/or Ambulance Services. When a citizen calls 9-1-1, the goal is to ensure the appropriate Emergency Service responds as quickly as possible. When misused, it ties up resources that may be needed at other serious and life-threatening incidents.
