WRPS Continues to Investigate Assault in Uptown Waterloo
UPDATED MEDIA RELEASE:
Waterloo Regional Police have laid manslaughter charges in connection to an assault in Waterloo.
On February 9, 2026, at approximately 12:45 a.m., police responded to a report of an assault at a business on King Street North near Young Street West.
Upon arrival, officers located a male unconscious and suffering from a head injury.
The victim, a 62-year-old male, was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries.
On February 10, 2026, the victim died as a result of his injuries.
On February 12, 2026, Waterloo Regional Police Service’s Major Crime Unit arrested and charged a 37-year-old Kitchener male with Manslaughter.
The accused is being held in police custody for a bail hearing.
Investigators believe this was an isolated incident and no weapons were involved.
