WRPS Continues to Investigate Person-on-Person Robbery in Waterloo

Waterloo Regional Police are continuing to investigate a person-on-person robbery in Waterloo.

On July 19, 2025, at approximately 5:30 p.m., police responded to the area of Spruce Street and Columbia Street for a report of a robbery.

The victim arranged to meet with two individuals to sell an item previously listed on a buy-and-sell website. During the transaction, the victim realized the money provided by the suspects was counterfeit. Upon confronting the suspects, the victim was physically assaulted. The suspects then stole the item and fled the scene in a vehicle.

The victim suffered non-life-threatening injuries as a result of this incident.

Waterloo Regional Police Service has three Buy and Sell Exchange Zones in Waterloo Region. These zones, which are located in the parking lot of WRPS facilities, aim to provide some additional peace of mind to those who are buying, selling, or trading property online. Members of the public are encouraged to utilize these Exchange Zones when meeting people to finalize online transactions.
