WRPS is Investigating Damage to Telecommunication Cables in Waterloo Region
The Waterloo Regional Police Service is investigating after telecommunication cables were damaged, resulting in widespread internet and Wi-Fi outages across the Region.
On August 22, 2025, at approximately 2:30 p.m., unknown suspect(s) damaged cables belonging to a communications company in the area of Speedsville Road in Cambridge. While no property was stolen, the damage was extensive.
Repair crews are worked throughout the night to restore services.
The investigation is ongoing by members of the Waterloo Regional Police Service’s General Investigations Unit.
