WRPS Investigating Series of Counterfeit Currency Frauds Linked to Online Buy-and-Sell Transactions
The Waterloo Regional Police Service (WRPS) is investigating several incidents involving counterfeit Canadian currency used during online buy-and-sell transactions in Cambridge throughout March 2026.
In each reported case, victims arranged to sell electronic devices through online buy-and-sell platforms. After meeting with the buyer, victims were provided cash payment that was later determined to be counterfeit.
Investigators would like to identify and speak with the individual pictured below in connection to this investigation.

Community members are encouraged to take precautions when buying or selling items online. Transactions should be completed in well-lit, public areas, including the designated Buy and Sell Zones located at the following WRPS divisions:
- 45 Columbia Street East, Waterloo (North Division)
- 200 Maple Grove Road, Cambridge (Headquarters – front parking lot)
- 176 Hespeler Road, Cambridge (South Division)
