WRPS Investigate Stolen Vehicle and Attempt to Identify Outstanding Suspect

Waterloo Regional Police have charged a second individual in connection to a stolen vehicle investigation in Cambridge.

On August 29, 2025, just after 10 a.m., South Division patrol officers responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle in the Hespeler area. Upon arrival, officers located the vehicle, occupied by one male passenger. The driver of the vehicle fled.

Investigation determined that the vehicle was stolen, and the passenger was charged with possession of stolen property over $5,000, obstruct police, and breach of probation.

On November 7, 2025, as a result of the ongoing investigation, WRPS' Robbery Team arrested and charged a 31-year-old Cambridge male with several offences, including:

  • Possession of stolen property over $5,000
  • Operation of a conveyance while prohibited
  • Failure to comply with release order (two counts)

The accused was held in police custody for a bail hearing.

The Waterloo Regional Police Service is investigating after a stolen vehicle was located in Cambridge.

On August 29, 2025, just after 10 a.m., South Division patrol officers responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle in the Hespeler area. Upon arrival, officers located the vehicle, which was occupied by one male passenger.

Through investigation, officers confirmed the vehicle had been stolen from the Greater Toronto Area. The passenger was arrested, while the driver fled the area and was not located.

The outstanding suspect is described as:

  • Male, brown skin, 20s

  • Wearing a blue baseball cap, sunglasses, black t-shirt, khaki vest, beige pants, and white shoes

Searches of the area did not result in locating the male. During the investigation, it was believed that break and enters may have occurred nearby; however, none have been identified at this time.

Officers determined that the arrested male had provided a false identity. He was found to be wanted by the Ottawa Police Service and was on release conditions at the time of the incident. Once properly identified, he was held for a bail hearing and charged with:

  • Possession of Stolen Property Over $5,000

  • Obstruct Police

  • Breach of Release Order

The investigation into the activities of the suspects is ongoing by members of the Waterloo Regional Police Service’s Break, Enter, and Vehicle Theft Unit (BEVT).
