Police Arrest Male in Connection to Online Marketplace Fraud
Waterloo Regional Police have arrested and charged a male after responding to an online marketplace fraud in Waterloo.
On October 2, 2025, police responded to a report of a fraud involving counterfeit money on King Street North.
The victim made arrangements to meet the suspect to sell a phone that was posted on a buy-and-sell site. The victim met at the agreed location and the suspect purchased the cell phone with cash. The victim attended a bank, and it was determined that the bills received were counterfeit.
As a result of the investigation, a 23-year-old Kitchener male was arrested and charged with:
Uttering counterfeit money
False pretense
Possession of property obtained by crime
