Police Charge Male with Assault after Responding to Cambridge Collision
Waterloo Regional Police have charged a driver with assaulting a peace officer after responding to a collision in Cambridge.
On June 3, 2025, at approximately 5:40 p.m., police received a report of a white sedan striking a guard rail on Fountain Street South.
At approximately 5:45 p.m., an officer responded to the collision and requested the driver to identify himself, as required by the Highway Traffic Act. When the driver refused and was advised he was being arrested for failing to identify, the male driver attempted to punch the officer.
An off-duty officer witnessed the incident and stopped to assist. Additional officers arrived, and the male was taken into custody.
No physical injuries were sustained as a result of this incident.
As a result of the investigation, the driver, a 32-year-old Cambridge male, was charged with Assault Peace Officer, Obstruct Police, and, Owner Operate Motor Vehicle – No Insurance.
