On December 22, 2025, police arrested and charged a 29-year-old man from Halton Region with Fraud Under $5,000 and Uttering a Forged Document in connection to a fake projector scam that occurred on a local University campus on August 18, 2025.

The accused has no known ties to Waterloo Region and had previously been charged in a similar fraud incident. Police are reminding community members to remain vigilant against scammers during the holiday season.
