Police Respond to an Assault in Cambridge
UPDATED MEDIA RELEASE:
Waterloo Regional Police have laid charges in connection to a stabbing incident in Cambridge.
On January 6, 2026, at approximately 9:20 p.m., Waterloo Regional Police responded to reports of an altercation at a hotel in the area of Hespeler Road and Pinebush Road in Cambridge.
During the incident, a male suspect assaulted two females with an edged weapon before fleeing the area.
On January 16, 2026, a 30-year-old Waterloo male was arrested and charged in connection to this incident. Charges include robbery and wounding, communicate with anyone for the purpose of obtaining sexual services, assault with a weapon (two counts), and aggravated assault (two counts).
The accused was held in police custody for a bail hearing.

On January 6, 2026, at approximately 9:20 p.m., Waterloo Regional Police responded to reports of an altercation at a hotel in the area of Hespeler Road and Pinebush Road in Cambridge.
Investigators determined that a male suspect was involved in a physical altercation with two adult females. During the incident, the suspect assaulted both females with an edged weapon before fleeing the area.
Both victims sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were transported to out-of-region hospitals for treatment.
The suspect is described as a Black male in his 30s, approximately 5’7” to 5’8” tall, with an average build and a moustache. At the time of the incident, he was wearing a hoodie, a brown jacket, and blue pants.
The incident remains under investigation by the Waterloo Regional Police Service's General Investigations Unit.
