Waterloo Regional Police are Investigating a Shooting Incident in Kitchener
UPDATED MEDIA RELEASE:
Waterloo Regional Police are requesting the public’s assistance in locating a wanted person in connection to a shooting in Kitchener.
On January 28, 2026, at approximately 9 p.m., a 30-year-old Kitchener male was shot in the area of Scott Street and King Street East in Kitchener. The victim was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
On February 10, 2026, members of WRPS' General Investigations Unit and Emergency Response Unit completed two search warrants in Kitchener and arrested two males.
Siraj Abukar, 30, from Kitchener is currently wanted on an outstanding warrant in connection to this incident.
Mr. Abukar’s outstanding charges include assault with a weapon, aggravated assault, and robbery with a firearm.
Mr. Abukar is considered armed and dangerous. If seen, please do not approach him but call 9-1-1 immediately.

Waterloo Regional Police have arrested two males in connection to a shooting in Kitchener.
On January 28, 2026, at approximately 9 p.m., a 30-year-old Kitchener male was shot by an unknown suspect in the area of Scott Street and King Street East in Kitchener. The victim was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
On February 10, 2026, members of WRPS' General Investigations Unit and Emergency Response Unit completed two search warrants in Kitchener.
As a result of the investigation, a 25-year-old Kitchener male was arrested and charged with:
Assault with a weapon
Aggravated assault
Robbery with firearm
A 28-year-old Kitchener male was arrested and charged with:
Careless use of a firearm
Point firearm
Possession of weapon for a dangerous purpose
Carrying concealed weapon
Unauthorized possession of firearm
Possession of prohibited or restricted firearm with ammunition
Possession of firearm or weapon contrary to prohibition order (two counts)
Discharge firearm with intent
Uttering threats to caused death or bodily harm
Assault with a weapon
Aggravated assault
Robbery with firearm
Both accused were held for a bail hearing.
