Waterloo Regional Police Investigating Robbery at Kitchener Business

Waterloo Regional Police have arrested a 60-year-old male in connection with four commercial robberies at multiple businesses in Kitchener.

On March 29, 2026, at approximately 7 p.m., the male suspect attended a business in the area of Belmont Avenue and Glasgow Street. The suspect confronted a store employee while brandishing a knife and demanded cash. The suspect fled the area. No items were stolen and no physical injuries were reported.

On April 4, 2026, at approximately 9:55 p.m., the same male suspect attended a business in the area of Belmont Avenue West and Glasgow Street. The suspect confronted a store employee while brandishing a knife and demanding cash from the register. The employee began calling police, at which time the suspect fled the area. No items were stolen and no physical injuries were reported.

Later that evening, at approximately 10:45 p.m., the male suspect attended another business in the area of King Street West and Andrew Street. The suspect confronted a store employee while brandishing a knife and demanding cash. Security staff intervened and the suspect fled the area. No items were stolen and no physical injuries were reported.

At approximately 10:50 p.m., the male suspect attended another business in the same area of King Street West and Andrew Street. The suspect confronted a store employee while brandishing a knife and stole a cash register containing cash before fleeing the area. No physical injuries were reported.

Through the investigation, members of the Direct Action Response Team, North Patrol, and the Emergency Response Team positively identified, located, and arrested the male.

The Break and Enter, Auto Theft, and Robbery Team assumed carriage of the investigation and laid additional criminal charges.

As a result of the investigation, the male has been charged with four counts of Robbery with a Weapon, four counts of Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose, four counts of Disguise with Intent, Uttering Threats, and Possession of an Identity Document.

The accused was held for a bail hearing.

Investigators would like to thank the businesses in the area that provided video footage, which assisted police in identifying and arresting the male.

Waterloo Regional Police are investigating a robbery at a business in Kitchener.

On March 29, 2026, at approximately 7:15 p.m., police responded to a report of a robbery at a store in the area of Belmont Avenue West and Glasgow Street. The suspect entered the business wearing a face mask, brandished a large knife, and demanded money from the employee.

The suspect obtained a quantity of cash before fleeing the area on a bicycle. The victim was not injured.

The suspect has been described as a White male, 40 to 50 years old, approximately 5’7” tall, with a slim build. He was last seen wearing a blue coat, a black hooded sweatshirt, a black toque, light blue jeans, a black ski mask, brown gloves, and black high‑top shoes.

The investigation remains ongoing by WRPS’ Break and Enter, Auto Theft, and Robbery (BEAR) Unit.
