Break and enter investigation

Waterloo Regional Police have charged a male in connection to three commercial break-and-enters in Waterloo.

On March 18, 2025, at approximately 9:15 a.m., police received a report of a break-and-enter at a business on Albert Street. Around 3 a.m., a male suspect pried open the rear door of the business and stole computer equipment.

On March 22, 2025, around 8:30 a.m., police responded to the same business after a second break-in and theft.

Investigators determined that the same suspect was responsible for both break-and-enters.

On March 24, 2025, an officer on proactive patrol observed the male suspect walking on Regina Street North near Hickory Street East and placed him under arrest.

Several computers and accessories, a slingshot, three crowbars, wire cutters, and box cutters were seized from the male at the time of his arrest.

As part of the investigation, officers subsequently determined that the male broke into a Phillip Street business on March 22, 2025, and stole a computer. The computer was located in the possession of the male when he was arrested.

As a result of the investigation, a 34-year-old male was charged with the following offences:

  • Break and enter a place – commit indictable offence (three counts)
  • Possession of stolen property over $5,000
  • Possession of break-in instruments
  • Breach of probation (six counts)

The accused was held in police custody for a bail hearing.
