Police Issue Fraud Warning Following Incident in Waterloo

Waterloo Regional Police continue to investigate a fraud incident in Waterloo.

On April 1, 2026, the victim received a phone call from an unknown individual who claimed to be an employee of the Scotiabank. The caller stated that the victim’s bank cards had been used fraudulently and asked the victim to provide their PIN over the phone. After the victim complied, the caller advised that a courier would be sent to the victim’s address to collect the cards.

At approximately 5:30 p.m., an unknown suspect attended Helene Crescent and retrieved the victim’s bank cards. Shortly afterward, the suspect used the cards to make fraudulent purchases and withdrew cash from the victim’s bank account.

The investigation is ongoing. 

Anyone with information or video footage in the area at the time of the incident is asked to call the police at 519-570-9777, extension 6399.
