Waterloo Regional Police are investigating following a report of a distraction theft in Waterloo.

On April 6, 2026, at approximately 12:20 p.m., the victim was approached by a male and female while in the parking lot of Costco on Erb Street West.

The suspects engaged the victim in conversation, and, during the interaction, the female suspect removed a necklace worn by the victim. The suspects then left the area in a white SUV. 

The victim, an 85-year-old male, did not sustain any physical injuries.

The investigation remains ongoing.
