WRPS Drug Trafficking Investigation Results in Six Arrests and Seizure of Firearms and Drugs

Waterloo Regional Police have arrested six individuals and seized firearms, ammunition, and large quantities of controlled substances following a drug trafficking investigation in the downtown core of Kitchener.

In October 2025, members of the Waterloo Regional Police Service Central Division Street Crime Team initiated an investigation into suspected drug trafficking activity in downtown Kitchener, following concerns expressed by members of the downtown community. The investigation focused on the trafficking of fentanyl, methamphetamine, and cocaine within Waterloo Region.

As a result of the investigation, police executed a search warrant at a residence in Kitchener on April 10, 2026. Six individuals were arrested at the location.

During the search, investigators seized two firearms, including one loaded firearm, ammunition, four replica firearms, electronic devices, and Canadian currency. Officers also seized a significant quantity of drugs, including suspected fentanyl, cocaine, methamphetamine, and hydromorphone pills.

The six accused, a 50-year-old male, an 18-year-old male, a 50-year-old female, a 53-year-old female, a 53-year-old male, and a 40-year-old male, all from Kitchener, face multiple criminal charges, including possession for the purpose of trafficking, firearms-related offences, possession of a prohibited device, and disobeying court orders. One of the accused parties was also arrested on outstanding warrants, including escape lawful custody and resisting arrest.

All six accused were held in police custody for bail hearings.

This investigation was led by the Waterloo Regional Police Service Central Division Street Crime Team, with support from the Crime Suppression, Analysis, and Response Unit (CSAR), the Criminal Intelligence Unit, the Break and Enter, Auto Theft, and Robbery Unit (BEAR), and the Emergency Response Team (ERT).
