Police are currently investigating a targeted shooting involving an armored vehicle at a financial institution in Waterloo. 

On May 13, 2026, at approximately 2:30 a.m., officers with the Waterloo Regional Police Service responded to the area of Fischer‑Hallman Road and Erb Street West following reports of gunshots.

Upon arrival, police located a victim suffering from gunshot wounds. The victim, an employee of the armoured vehicle company, had been approached by multiple unknown individuals and was subsequently shot.

The victim, a 25-year-old male, was transported to an out‑of‑region hospital with serious injuries.

Investigators from the Waterloo Regional Police Service’s Break, Enter, Auto Theft and Robbery Unit, with assistance from the General Investigations Unit, are continuing to investigate.
