On May 16, 2026, at approximately 10 p.m., an adult male was entering the rear seat of a rideshare vehicle in the area of King Street North and Columbia Street West when the driver began to move the vehicle before the passenger was fully inside.

As a result, the passenger fell to the ground and the vehicle ran over his leg.

Emergency Services attended the scene and transported the 25-year-old male to a local hospital, where he was treated for a broken ankle.

A 38-year-old male from Kitchener has been charged with Careless Driving Causing Bodily Harm.
