Waterloo Regional Police have charged a male following a weapons incident at Waterloo Park.

On May 16, 2026, at approximately 7:45 p.m., police responded to reports of a male suspect brandishing a knife and threatening to stab an individual while at a basketball court.

Officers arrived and arrested the male. The victim reported no physical injuries. 

A 36-year-old Cambridge male was arrested and charged with:

• Assault with a weapon
• Weapons dangerous
• Utter threats to cause death or bodily harm

The male was held for a bail hearing.
