Waterloo Regional Police Arrest Male Following Impaired Driving and Drug Seizure in Cambridge

Waterloo Regional Police have arrested a male after a driving complaint in Cambridge led to the seizure of drugs and an impaired driving investigation.

On May 29, 2026, at approximately 3:40 p.m., officers responded to a report of a driver stopped at an intersection in the area of Booty Lane and Lena Crescent. Witnesses reported the driver appeared to be asleep behind the wheel while the vehicle was running.

Officers located the vehicle and found the driver asleep in the driver’s seat. When awoken, the driver displayed signs of impairment.

The male was arrested, and officers seized a quantity of suspected cocaine and methamphetamine, as well as cash.

Further investigation revealed the male was prohibited from driving and was also operating a vehicle while under suspension.

The 39-year-old Cambridge male has been charged with multiple offences, including:

  • Operation while Impaired
  • Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking (two counts)
  • Operation while prohibited
  • Dangerous operation

The accused was held in police custody for a bail hearing.

Waterloo Regional Police remind the public that impaired driving continues to pose a significant risk to community safety. Members of the public are encouraged to report suspected impaired drivers by calling 9-1-1.
