Waterloo Regional Police Investigating Break-and-Enter in Kitchener
UPDATED MEDIA RELEASE:
Waterloo Regional Police Service's Break and Enter, Auto Theft, and Robbery (BEAR) Unit is investigating three residential break-ins in Kitchener and Waterloo.
On May 29, 2026, three residential break-and-enters were reported to police, two in Waterloo in the areas of Branstone Drive and Amberwood Drive and Sandford Fleming Drive and McCrae Place, and one in Kitchener in the area of Victoria Street South and Stoke Drive.
In each incident, unknown suspects entered the home through a rear door and stole jewellery and other personal property.
Investigators are requesting residents in the following areas to check their home security camera footage on May 29, 2026:
- Stoke Drive and Victoria Street South, between 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.
- Sandford Fleming Drive and McCrae Place, between 3 p.m. and 11 p.m.
- Branstone Drive and Amberwood Drive, between 10:30 p.m. and midnight on May 30, 2026
WRPS' BEAR Unit is encouraging residents to take the following precautions to help prevent break-ins:
- Keep doors and windows locked, even when home
- Keep valuables out of common areas and out of plain sight
- Install audible noise alarm systems
- Secure residences with home video surveillance cameras in the front and back of the residence
- Notify neighbours when away for an extended period and arrange to have someone check on your residence
- Report any suspicious persons or vehicles to police

Waterloo Regional Police are investigating a break-and-enter in Kitchener.
On May 29, 2026, at approximately 2:20 p.m., police responded to a report of a break-and-enter at a residence in the area of Stoke Drive and Victoria Street South.
An unknown suspect(s) gained entry to the home by smashing the glass of the patio door and stole property and cash.
The suspect was last seen fleeing the area in a white SUV.
The investigation remains ongoing.
