Waterloo Regional Police Arrest Male in Ongoing Drug Investigation
Waterloo Regional Police have arrested an individual in an ongoing drug investigation.
In September 2025, members of the WRPS’ Drugs and Firearms Unit launched an investigation into cocaine trafficking from Canada to Hong Kong after a 20-year-old Cambridge female was arrested at the Hong Kong International Airport with 25 kilograms of suspected cocaine hidden in her checked luggage.
As a result of an extended investigation and with the support from multiple law enforcement partners, investigators completed a search warrant in Markham on June 11, 2026. A male was arrested in connection with a sophisticated drug network that facilitated her travel from Toronto to Hong Kong.
As a result of the investigation, the 36-year-old Markham male was charged with:
- Possession for the purpose of trafficking
- Possession for the purpose of exportation
The accused was held for a bail hearing.
