Members of the Waterloo Regional Police Service’s General Investigations Unit have charged three individuals in connection with an ongoing fraud investigation.

Between May 8, 2025, and June 20, 2025, an unknown suspect(s) contacted several telecommunications customers while impersonating representatives from Bell Canada.

The suspect(s) used this fraudulent approach to obtain personal information from the victims. That information was then used to order more than $100,000 worth of new cell phones, which were delivered to an address in Kitchener.

On June 24, 2025, Bell Canada notified Waterloo Regional Police of the fraud and police launched an investigation.

On June 30, 2025, members of the Waterloo Regional Police Service’s General Investigations Unit, with the support of Bell Canada, completed two search warrants at residences in Kitchener. As a result, investigators seized more than $40,000 worth of fraudulently obtained property and arrested three individuals.

As a result of the investigation, a 37-year-old male, a 26-year-old male, and a 26-year-old female, all from Kitchener, were arrested and charged with:

  • Fraud over $5,000
  • Possession of stolen property over $5,000
