WRPS Arrest Male after Carjacking and Robbery in Kitchener

Waterloo Regional Police have arrested a male after a carjacking and an attempted commercial robbery in Kitchener.

On January 20, 2025, at approximately 8:45 p.m., police responded to a report of a carjacking in the area of Weber Street East and Fergus Avenue.

The driver of a Honda Civic was sitting in the vehicle in a parking lot when an unknown male entered the front passenger seat and brandished a knife. The 36-year-old Cambridge female driver was able to exit the car. The male then fled the area, heading north on Weber Street East.

On January 21, 2025, at approximately 12:50 a.m., officers received a report of an in-progress robbery at a gas station on Bleams Road and Homer Watson Boulevard.

A male suspect attended the store, threatened an employee, and demanded money. The male left the store when another customer entered. The suspect drove away in a Honda Civic.

At approximately 1 a.m., an officer located the gas station suspect in a Honda Civic in the area of Cedarhill Crescent and Country Hill Drive. The Civic was determined to be the vehicle stolen earlier in the night.

Police conducted a traffic stop of the vehicle and arrested the driver.

As a result of the investigation, a 26-year-old male from Kitchener has been charged with robbery with a weapon and robbery with violence.

No physical injuries were reported in either incident.

The accused was held in police custody for a bail hearing.
