Waterloo Regional Police Investigating Serious Collision Involving E-Scooter in Waterloo
Waterloo Regional Police are investigating a collision in Waterloo that left an e-scooter rider with serious injuries.
On July 30, 2026, at approximately 6:35 a.m., emergency services responded to the area of Northfield Drive West and Parkside Drive for a collision involving a motor vehicle and an e-scooter.
The investigation determined that a 19-year-old Kitchener male was operating an e-scooter eastbound on Northfield Drive West when a Toyota, driven by a 25-year-old Quebec male, attempted to change lanes and struck the e-scooter.
The e-scooter rider was ejected and sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries. The male was transported to an out-of-region hospital by Region of Waterloo Paramedic Services.
Northfield Drive West between Parkside Drive and Highway 85 was closed for several hours while members of WPRS’ Traffic Services Unit investigated.
The investigation is ongoing, and charges are anticipated.
