Waterloo Regional Police Make an Arrest After Responding to a Jewellery Store Robbery in Waterloo
Waterloo Regional Police have arrested one male after an armed robbery at a Waterloo mall.
On December 18, 2024, at approximately 4:20 p.m., police responded to multiple reports of a robbery at Conestoga Mall.
Five unknown males entered a jewellery store with hammers and a noxious substance. The males began to smash display cases and steal property prior to police arrival.
WRPS' North Neighbourhood Patrol officers responded quickly and located the vehicle used by the suspects. The vehicle was unoccupied at the time.
Members of North Neighbourhood Patrol, the Canine Team, Robbery Team, Emergency Response Team, and the Direct Action Response Team searched the area and located one of the suspects.
A 22-year-old male from Toronto was arrested and charged with the following offences:
- Robbery with a weapon
- Possession of a weapon
- Disguise with intent
- Two counts of possession of stolen goods over $5,000
It is believed that the suspects are connected to a Cambridge jewelry store robbery that occurred on December 16, 2024.
The male was held in police custody for a bail hearing.
