Waterloo Regional Police Investigating Residential Break-In in Wilmot Township

Waterloo Regional Police are investigating a residential break-in in Wilmot Township.

On August 9, 2026, at approximately 9:50 p.m., police responded to a report of a break-and-enter at a residence in the area of Waterloo Street and Hostetler Road.

Investigators learned that an unknown individual forced entry into the residence through a rear window while the homeowner was inside. The homeowner encountered the intruder, who then fled on foot.

Officers attended the area and conducted a search with assistance from the Waterloo Regional Police Canine Team. Several items believed to have been taken from the residence were recovered nearby. The suspect was not located.

The investigation remains ongoing by WRPS’ Break and Enter, Auto Theft, and Robbery (BEAR) Unit.
