Waterloo Regional Police are investigating an assault involving bear spray in Kitchener.

On August 15, 2026, at approximately 5:05 a.m., police received a report of a male who had been sprayed with bear spray in a parking lot near Charles Street East and Pandora Avenue North.

The victim made their way to a parking lot in the area of Ottawa Street North and Weber Street East, where a bystander contacted emergency services.

Officers located the male suffering from minor injuries to his eyes and face. He received medical treatment and was transported to hospital.

Investigators believe the incident occurred between 4 a.m. and 5:00 a.m. Police are currently seeking to identify and locate the male suspect involved.

The investigation remains ongoing.
