Police Investigating Shooting Incident at Waterloo Business

UPDATED MEDIA RELEASE:

Waterloo Regional Police Service has arrested a male wanted in connection to a 2024 shooting incident in Waterloo.

On May 18, 2024, at approximately 11 p.m., police responded to reports of a shooting at a business in the area of King Street North and University Avenue West. As a result of the investigation, Jalen Belle-McCormack was identified and wanted on numerous criminal charges related to the incident.

On October 24, 2025, members of the Winnipeg Police Service arrested Jalen Belle-McCormack on a warrant for the outstanding charges. He was subsequently transported to Waterloo Region and is currently being held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Waterloo Regional Police are seeking assistance to locate a male wanted in connection to a 2024 shooting incident in Waterloo.

On May 18, 2024, at approximately 11 p.m., police responded to reports of a shooting at a business located in the area of King Street North and University Avenue West.

Through investigation, police determined that a disturbance occurred while suspects were inside the business and shots were fired.

Jalen Belle-McCormack, 20, from Toronto, is currently wanted on a warrant in connection to this incident. Charges include:

  • Careless Use of Firearm

  • Carry Concealed Weapon

  • Utter Threats

  • Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose

  • Possession of a Prohibited Weapon

  • Point Firearm

  • Fail to Comply with a Judicial Order (two counts)

  • Breach Probation

Mr. Belle-McCormack is known to frequent the Greater Toronto Area and Hamilton.

On May 18, 2024, at approximately 11 p.m., police responded to reports of a shooting at a business located in the area of King Street North and University Avenue West.
