Kitchener WA26122527 Posted: Friday, August 21, 2026 9:09 a.m.

Waterloo Regional Police are investigating a residential break-and-enter in Kitchener.

On August 20, 2026, between approximately 9:30 a.m. and 11:30 p.m., unknown suspects broke into a residence in the area of Waterbridge Court and Windrush Trail.

Investigators believe the suspects gained entry by smashing the glass of a sliding patio door.

This is the second residential break-in reported in the area this month.

Members of the Waterloo Regional Police Service's Break and Enter, Auto Theft, and Robbery (BEAR) Unit are continuing to investigate.

As part of the investigation, officers are asking residents and motorists who were in the area and may have dash camera, residential security camera, or other video footage to review their recordings and submit any relevant footage. Police are particularly interested in footage captured between 9 a.m. and 12 p.m. on August 20, 2026, from the following areas:

  • Windrush Trail
  • Waterbridge Court
  • Doon South Drive
  • Doon Village Road

Police are also encouraging residents to take the following steps to help prevent residential break-ins:

  • Keep doors and windows locked, even when at home.
  • Install audible alarm systems.
  • Secure residences with video surveillance cameras at the front and rear of the property.
  • Consider using trail cameras if the property backs onto greenspace or wooded areas.
  • Notify trusted neighbours when away for an extended period and arrange for someone to check on the residence.
  • Report suspicious persons or vehicles to police.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Waterloo Regional Police Service's BEAR Unit at 519-570-9777, extension 8255.
