Police Arrest Male after Locating Stolen Vehicle Using ALPR in Waterloo
Waterloo Regional Police have charged a male after locating a stolen vehicle in Waterloo using automated licence plate recognition (ALPR) technology.
On December 12, 2024, at approximately 7:10 p.m., an officer on proactive patrol in the area of Phillip Street received an ALPR alert for a stolen motor vehicle.
Further investigation confirmed that the vehicle, a black Dodge Journey, had been reported stolen.
A traffic stop was conducted on Lester Street and the driver was arrested. During the search of the stolen vehicle, officers located and seized suspected cocaine.
As a result of the investigation, a 28-year-old male, was charged with:
- Possession of stolen property over $5,000
- Possession of suspected cocaine
The male was also arrested on four outstanding warrants.
The accused was held in police custody for a bail hearing.
