The Waterloo Regional Police Service has three Buy and Sell Exchange Zones that aim to provide extra safety for those buying, selling, or trading property online. They are located in the parking lots of WRPS facilities at:
- 45 Columbia Street East, Waterloo (North Division)
- 200 Maple Grove Road, Cambridge (Headquarters – front parking lot)
- 176 Hespeler Road, Cambridge (South Division)
Other Buy and Sell Tips
If you are unable to meet at one of our Buy and Sell Exchange Zones, please consider completing your transactions in a well-lit, public, and popular location to avoid becoming a victim of a crime. Other tips to protect yourself during a buy and sell exchange:
- Complete your transaction during daytime hours only.
- Use the buddy system when possible. Bring a family member or friend with you, or let someone know who you'll be meeting, the time, and the location of the exchange.
- To reduce the potential of falling victim to fraud, never complete a buy and sell transaction by mail.
- When meeting in person, always inspect the goods you want to purchase before giving the seller money.
- Limit the amount of personal information you provide.
- Stop. Pause. Think. If something seems too good to be true, it likely is.
