Waterloo Regional Police have arrested a male following a weapons incident in Kitchener.

On September 29, 2026, at approximately 2:30 p.m., police responded to reports of a male chasing people while brandishing a knife on Lakeside Drive. 

Through the investigation, officers determined that the suspect had chased multiple individuals with a knife while in the area. Officers located and arrested the suspect.

As a result of the investigation, a 38-year-old Kitchener male has been charged with:

• Assault with a weapon
• Uttering threats to cause death
• Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
• Cause disturbance 
• Assault peace officer
• Resist arrest
• Assault with a weapon
• Mischief under $5,000 (five counts)
• Assault (five counts)

The accused was held for a bail hearing.
